Flame Retardant Masterbatch

Flame Retardant Masterbatch

Humans have long been exposed to the dangers of fire. Fires caused by earthquake, overheating of electrical equipment, power network failure and so on have always been an important reason for fatality and financial loss. The use of additives to reduce flammability of equipment is very important. Flame retardants not only improve security in general but also save many lives directly.

In its simplest definition, flame retardants are masterbatches added to plastics in order to prevent or delay them from catching fire.

Of course, in reality, this definition is much more complicated because variety of parameters affect it. These parameters may include start, safety, speed and stability of flame, smoke concentration and toxicity of it.
These masterbatches can be produced on different polymer bases such as PP, PE, PC, and ABS.
Based on their chemical technology, flame retardants can be separated into 3 categories:
1) Halogenated retardants: contain bromine or chlorine, and helps extinguish fire by limiting flames.
2) Non-halogenated retardants: due to environmental effects of halogens, people are increasingly using non-halogenated retardants. We provide engineered this masterbatch so that the flame retardant undergoes the least amount of mechanical change from detracting halogens.
3) Low-halogenated retardants: A middle ground between the first two kinds, this kind is used to lower the effects of halogen.
Minimum use of this low-halogenated flame retardants lowers the flammability levels to V-2.
These masterbatches are tested according to UL-94 standards and are customizable to our customers’ needs.

Using our top-of-the-line laboratories, our R&D team has produced a non-halogenated flame retardant masterbatch that, with its high impact levels, easily comparable with foreign competition.
